The glowing purple eye kind of reminds me of Juri from Street Fighter.
Just a minor critique though. You may want to try filling in the side characters with white as well. As it stands now they blend into the background a bit and it makes them a little hard to see. Same with the text bubbles. Remember, the text is the first thing people look for when reading a page so you can't do anything to get in the way of the reader finding it.

Oh, and Trust me I did fix this down the way, Its a pain for me to look at these early strips, but if you want a better idea of what they look like now, the journal I posted of this series is more accurate to the pages I'm currently working on
